Setup is your main Choose MP3 → Learn → Play workflow. Your sounds are shared with the virtual board.
1 · Connect your pad
For Bluetooth: power on the EMP16, press WIRELESS, and choose MIDI PAD-01 if shown. Connect only to one app at a time.
🔎 Live EMP16 MIDI signal check
“Bluetooth connected” only confirms the radio link. Hit a pad and watch this screen. MIDI messages must appear before pad learning can work.
0 Bluetooth packets · 0 MIDI messages
If the packet count rises but there are no decoded notes, copy the BLE RAW log. If no packets arrive, try pad bank A, sequencer stopped, 16 LEVEL off, and pad mode Note. For USB, use Connect USB MIDI and check the log below.
2 · Pick sounds
Tap a pad to hear it. Tap “Choose MP3” to add a sound; tap “Learn” and hit your real pad to link it.
Each bank has 16 independent sounds. Use Learn on each slot. If your hardware bank buttons do not send MIDI, use these on-screen bank buttons. Incoming learned notes can also switch the displayed bank.
3 · Play settings
Backup includes your MP3 audio and pad settings. Large MP3 collections create large backup files. Keep this browser tab open while playing.
4 · EMP16 control surface
A layout of the real board. The 16 sound assignments above remain the main way to choose and learn MP3s. Tap a control below, choose an audio action, tap Learn Control, then move that real knob/fader/button. Live values appear only when MIDI arrives.
Internal / unknown
Hardware screen not transmitted
Tap a virtual button to perform its action; select it using Edit control below. Knobs and faders can be dragged directly in virtual mode. Screen, bank selection, wireless LED, and some special keys are not guaranteed to report state over MIDI. On-screen bank buttons are editable. Hardware bank changes may not send MIDI; learn each bank’s pads separately. Physical LEDs cannot be guaranteed to match the app. Knob/fader values show the last received MIDI value, not a guaranteed hardware position.
Control assignment
No control selected.
Button learning listens for Note ON/OFF, CC including zero, Program Change and channel pressure. If a hardware key never sends MIDI, use its on-screen copy. Virtual knob/fader: drag the control vertically, or use the accessible slider in its editor.
Saved effect presets
Save the CURRENT effect settings as a named preset. Then assign a physical button to Next/Previous preset, or tap a preset here. These are PHONE settings, not settings saved to EMP16 hardware memory.
🎤 Live microphone & recorded voice
Allow microphone access on HTTPS. The mic passes through the SAME effects as the music. To avoid feedback, plug in headphones before enabling speaker monitoring. Record captures the processed mix (voice plus any playing MP3s). Do not record private conversations without permission.
Microphone off. Recordings stay on your phone.
💡 EMP16 pad lighting
Choose the colors you want on your phone and see a 16-pad preview. EMP16 supports 16 built-in colors for Color ON (struck) and Color OFF (idle). These choices are saved on your phone. Physical LED remote control is not confirmed by the EMP16 manual; this page does not send any lighting messages to the hardware.
Tap a pad to assign the selected color. Touch and hold a pad to preview the HIT color. The soundboard's live status coloring (green playing, amber paused) takes priority while playing.
Lighting preferences stay in this browser.
🔧 How to put these colors on the real EMP16
- Press MENU on the EMP16.
- Select Trigger and press OK.
- Hit the physical pad you want to change.
- Use the left/right arrow buttons to find Page 4.
- Choose Color OFF (idle) or Color ON (struck) and use the EMP16's controls to select the color name shown in the phone editor.
- Repeat for other pads. The manual describes SHIFT + OK (SET TO) for applying values to banks A/B/C/D/ALL. Follow your on-device screen prompts before confirming.
The hardware supports a fixed 16-color palette, not arbitrary RGB values. Dynamic playing/paused colors that change while an MP3 plays are currently only guaranteed on the phone screen. No physical LED feedback protocol was provided in the published manual.
Connection test & troubleshooting
If a real pad is detected but no sound plays, use Learn to assign its note. If the same physical pad sometimes sends different notes, check the EMP16 pad bank (A/B/C/D) and turn off 16 LEVEL mode.
